CELEBRATION OF WORLD SENIOR CITIZENS DAY

DAV Public School, Berhampur never leaves any opportunity of reaching people off their hands. They have cultivated the habit of observing and celebrating all important occasions in a very unique and meaningful way. This was reflected on the world senior citizens day when they reached the Sabitri Jara Nivas, an old age home situated at Gopalpur on sea. A prior preparation for the same was made under the guidance of Unit leader Miss Swapna Rani Panigrahi and scout master Mr. Jagadish bisoyi. Their appeal to generous parents for donation for the cause was responded very well by parents through cash and kind. The collected cash was spent for procuring food materials. A special bag containing clothes, food items, sanitizers and masks was made for each member of the old age home. The principal Mrs Dharasari Padhi, supervisor Rinakhi Pattnaik and teacher Samir Kumar Panigrahi, K. C. Panda and Dilip Ku Behera joined the chorus. The team was given a rousing welcome by the residents of the old age home which was followed by a short felicitation meeting. The meeting started with the bhajan of Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram followed by the expression of the objective of the mission by Mr KC Panda. The felicitation started with the principal facilitating the senior most members. Then all the members were presented in the same way. A patriotic song by Aman Behera enthralled all. The unit leader Miss Swapna Rani Panigrahi read the letters of those children who could not make it due to corona protocol. The emotional letters brought tears in the eyes of the old people. The meeting came to an end with the head of the institution Mrs. Sabitri Devi appreciating the gestures of the Scouts and Guides with heartfelt gratitude. The success of the mission has added an impetus to the indomitable spirit of Scouts and Guides who are willing to undertake many such philanthropic activities in future to help the community.
