Celebrating International Peace Day

What inspired you to take up the project?

I was inspired to start this project because I believe peace begins with each of us. I wanted to help Scouts understand kindness, compassion, respect and non-violence, and encourage them to become responsible members of the community. The opportunity to pray for the well-being of all people and sentient beings also made the celebration more meaningful.

What are the learnings you got from implementing this project and how would you make it better?

I learned that peace begins with small actions such as kindness, respect and compassion. I also learned the importance of teamwork, planning and active participation. The project showed me that combining peace education with disaster preparedness can help Scouts become more responsible and caring members of the community.

Where was your project implemented and how did you execute it?

I executed the project by organizing a series of activities with the Scouts and school community. We began with a talk on International Peace Day, followed by the World Peace Pledge and prayers for the well-being of all sentient beings. The Scouts also received blessings from the Thongdrel of Future Buddha Jampa Goembo. We then observed a minute of silence for victims of wars and violence and participated in an earthquake mock drill to promote peace, preparedness and teamwork.
