14th Athens Scout troop in need of the Athens Nursing Home

Few days ago, me and the rest of the adult members of our Scout Troop decided to help the nursing home of Athens, Greece after their SOS signal they put online and on several news stations here in Greece, because of the Covid19.

Immediately and with no further hessitation, we put up a poster on our social media, an open call if you like, whith one purpose and goal.  To gather as much of the materials and food the Nursing home asked for, as possbible.  We arranged a specific date and time (5 days later to be exact), while keeping all the necessary precautions our Government has put, because of the quarantine.

The day had finally came, and 2 of our Troop's adult scouts went in our HQ, to gather, count, and file, whatever anyone would bring.  The list included especially of adult diapers, subcentones, rice, pasta, chlorine, and medicine among several other things.  With bad weather all over Athens that day, people started coming one after another, bringing more and more things for the elderly of the Nursing home.  In two hours we managed to gather over 250 diapers, 280 subcentones and quite a lot of food.  We started emmediately to put everything in bags while making all the necessary arrangements with the nursing home staff, so we can take everything to them.  Two days later, we sent our text messages to the number our government has told us to do whenever someone has to come out of his quarantine at home, we drove to the nursing home and gave everything to the staff there.

We, the members of the 14th Athens Scout Troop here in Greece, wish you all to have a safe easter this year, stay healthy, and do not forget the elderly people.  Especially now.
