Think globally, act locally!

What does it mean to be an active citizen? How to change yourself and change for the better life in your community? How to create projects that will improve your community? These issues are devoted to the training that we conduct for scouts from Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine. The program "Active Citizens" was created by the British Council and operates in 49 countries. It is implemented through partner organisations. The National Organization of Scouts of Ukraine is also a partner of the program. I and another scout from our organisation Yurii Galitskyi are facilitators of this program. In April, I conducted a three-day training for 22 scouts and young people from Kyiv. We learned to understand ourselves and our needs, the needs of other people and our community. They also studied problems in our community and learned to create projects. Participants developed their projects in teams, one of the teams had already implemented their project - they organised a historic quest in the city. Another team developed a draft tent camp for girls from the countryside and will host it in August. The next training on the program "Active citizens" will be organised from June 16 to June 25 for 10 young people from the capital and for 10 from the countryside.
