MoP BBQ Project at Kandersteg International Scout Centre

MoP BBQ Project at Kandersteg International Scout Centre

Every year our 'International BBQ' supports a worthy cause in Scouting somewhere in the world. Whenever a guest books the BBQ a CHF 2.- donation goes from the payment to the project. In 2007 the Lebanese Scouts Association received CHF 13,700 to help them rebuild their country through the 'Rebirth of the Phoenix' project. In 2008 the project donatated CHF 7,000 to build a permanent climbing and abseiling facility in the Philippines for the 11th National Jamboree in Clarkfield Pampanga in 2009. In 2009, CHF 5,000 was donated to Scouting in Favellas in Brazil, which helped to continue the development of Scouting and education in under-developed areas of Brazil. In 2010 donations went go towards the Operation One World Project, providing Scouts from around the world the opportunity to experience the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden in 2011. In 2011, the money raised went towards developing Scouting for Kenyan Street Children. The donations in 2012 and in 2013 totalled CHF 13,765 and were used to support Scouting in East Timor and the creation of a national activity centre for Timor-Leste Scouts. In 2014, we collected money to help a scout centre in Nepal. Kakani International Training Centre wanted to use the money to create new campsites. So far we have raised CHF 7,422 to help Kakani Internation Training Centre. http://www.kakani.org/main.php In 2015, we decided to continue our support towards the Kakani International Training Centre, after the earthquakes in April 2015. The money will mainly go to help rebuild shelters and toilets that were damaged by this nature distaster. During the Summer 2016, we raised nearly 8,000CHFs for foodKIND, a charity which has very close ties to the Centre. FoodKIND was set up by a Scout and KISC ex-staff member in response to the worsening refugee crisis and the deteriorating conditions across Europe. FoodKIND is a humanitarian organization with a very simple mission – to provide food and compassion in situations where people do not have access to regular food supplies and where basic human needs are not being met. For Summer 2017, we are supporting the International Rover Moot held in Iceland. We are providing help with the solidarity project that was set up by the Moot to enable Scouts without the monetary power to attend the Moot. We are hoping to enable many Rovers and Ranger to attend, with the help of all our guests this Summer. This project brings together thousands of Scouts who, every year, get together at KISC to share their cultures and help Scouts around the world to Create a Better World.
