Hygiene for Vulnerable Children in Gasabo District/ Rwanda/ Africa

Hygienic for vulnerable children is a project which was implemented by Gasabo Scout District in partnership with Inzira to help youth, women and children to grow up with culture of cleanness and Sanitation. Not only the human but also environment in Gasabo to be smart as well by the hands of youth and children in Gasabo. The project started early in September2018 end of June 2019. Scouts taught the children and youth hygiene and reusable pads for women and girls through field works, inspirational talks, workshops, and dialogue in 3 Sectors (NDUBA, JABANA AND BUMBOGO) of rural area of Gasabo District.

OUTCOME

i. 60 vulnerable children in each Sector ( Nduba, Jabana, Bumbogo) given cleanness basics needs tools including Soaps, teeth paste, teeth brushes and vaserine to carry home and learnt how to use them properly.

ii. 181 Children and youth leant how prevent Amavunja (Tungiasis) in Gasabo District

iii. 180 Girls and women learnt how o make re usable pads in 3 sectors.

iv. 178 Children and youth learnt how to protect environment through reuse of wasted material.

v. After training of 180 girls and women living in economic precariousness who were ashamed of their menstruation period, today are no longer ashamed in public during their menstruation health management because they have taught how to manage their selves, no trained children miss class and church as it was before training.

THE SUCCESS STORY (Impact)

 The group of girls trained by Gasabo scout has formed the group of making reusable pad and use peer to peer , which means in July in Bumbogo Secotor 31 new Girls were trained ,25 new Girls were trained in Jabana and 61 new Girls were trained in Nduba.

 At Nduba Secondary School , the trained children used their Girl room to treat any girl in her period of menstruation and organized a regular training for other children at school how to make reusable pads .

 The 138 fruit tree like Mango tree, Avocado tree, Lemon trees , were planted by trained children and nowdays are conserve that trees
