DIALOUGE FOR PEACE & BETTER WORLD FRAMEWORK

A workshop on Dialogue for Peace & Better World Framework Facilitator’s
Training was conducted at Bharat Scouts and Guides, National Headquarters, New Delhi
from 18th to 22nd September, 2018. Mr. Devraj Ghimire, Chairman, Asia Pacific
Programme Sub Committee was the Resource person and Mr. Syd Castillo, Director
Educational Method, APR, WOSM and Mr. Tan Sijie of Singapore Scout Association were
the part of the Event. 28 State Organising Commissioners (Scout Wing) and ASOCs
representing the different States of Bharat Scouts and Guides and the professionals of
Scout wing of National Headquarters actively and enthusiastically participated in the
workshop.
On 18th September 2018, training started with Prayer followed by lighting of the
traditional lamp by Mr. Devraj Ghimire, Chairman, Asia Pacific Programme Sub
Committee in the august presence of Mr. Syd Castillo, Director, Educational Method,
APR/WOSM. Mr. Tan Sijie, Singapore Scout Association, Mr. Krishnaswamy R. Director,
BSG, and Mr. Raj Kumar Kaushik, Deputy Director of Scouts (Project) and
Administrative Officer, BSG. Mr. Amar B. Chettri Dy. Director (Boy Programme) BSG
welcomed the Guests and the participants of the event. Flower bouquets were
presented to the Guests.
Opening remarks of the event were delivered by Mr. Devraj Ghimire, Chairman,
APR/WOSM. In his speech he explained the importance of the event. The Course
Objectives were delivered by Mr. Syd Castillo, Director, Educational Method,
APR/WOSM, After lunch, a session on Conflict was taken by Mr. Saratraj. E, Coordinator
DFP.
The “Peace Building” main topic of the Course was led by Mr. Syd Castillo,
Director, Educational Method, APR/WOSM, with too many interactive tasks and finally
the last session of the day was presented on Identity & Culture by Mr. Tan Sijie of
Singapore Scout Association.
On 19th September 2018, session started with the continuation of the topic of Identity
and Culture led by Mr. Tan Sijie. A video was presented on the Danger of a Single Story
which was very helpful in understanding how common perceptions and facts were told
on for years.
Another important session on Dialogue, the understanding and its importance was
delivered by Mr. Ghimire.
On 20th of September, 2018, Explanation of Playing Dialogue Games in Hindi was
presented by Shri G. Parameshwar, SOC(S) of Telangana State. The First session was on
Dialogical Person by Mr. Devraj Ghimire, Chairman ARP Programme Sub‐Committee.
For understanding the topic a task was given to all the participants to know about the
qualities of an Ideological Scout followed by another Task given in the form of a Triangle
to understand that the Heart deals with Attitude, Head deals with Knowledge and Hands
deals with Action. Ticket to Life session was delivered by Mr. Aroop Sarkar, Assistant
Director, Northern Region. Sustainable Development Goal session was delivered by Mr.
Syd Castillo, Director, Educational Method, APR/WOSM. Scouts of the World Award &
Patrimony session was delivered by Mr. Tan Sijie of Singapore Scout Association. The
Award is given on the basis of Discovery and Voluntary Service. World Scout Youth
Involvement Policy session was delivered by Mr. Syd Castillo, Director, Educational
Method, APR, WOSM.
On 21st of September 2018, the Day began with Prayer followed by reflection
presenting white Group and Report of the Previous Day by Red Group.
The first session to connect Proficiency Badges and Scout Activities with SDGs was led
by Mr. Madhushudan.
International Peace Day was celebrated by the participants by actively and
enthusiastically taking part in MoP activities.
On 22nd September, 2018, the Day began with Prayer followed by reflection presented
by white Group and Report of the Previous Day by Green Group.
Valedictory and Closing Function started with General salute. Director, Bharat Scouts
and Guides, India presented flower bouquets and Scarfs to all the Distinguished Guests
which include Shri J.C. Mohanty, IAS, International Commissioner (Scout) of BSG India,
Mrs. A. Swer, International Commissioner (Guide), Mr. Syd Castillo, Director, Education
Method, APR/WOSM, Shri G. Ranga Rao, Former Director BSG and Shri V.R. Ghanathey,
Former Joint Director BSG. Shri Krishnaswamy R. Director Bharat Scouts and Guides
India delivered welcome address. Shri Ranjit Kumar Das, East Coast Railway and Shri
Prakash Disoriya, Madhya Pradesh gave their impressions on the workshop.
Certificates were presented to the Staff of National Headquarters who rendered their
good services during the workshop. Mr. Syd Castillo, Director, Education Method,
APR/WOSM gave the closing remarks. Mementos were presented to the Distinguished
Guests and overseas dignitaries.
Shri J.C. Mohanty, IAS, International Commissioner (S), Mrs. A Swer, International
Commissioner (G), Shri G. Ranga Rao, Former Director, BSG, Shri V.R.Ganathay , Former
Joint Director, BSG also addressed the closing function and blessed the participants.
Vote of thanks were presented by Shri Saratraj E. Coordinator DfP, followed by National
Anthem. Shri Analendra Sarma, ROC(S), Southern Region was the Master of the
ceremony.
