Camp North East

Camp North East

The North Eastern Province of Scouting Ireland recently held a weekend camp for Beaver & Cub Scouts. There was nearly 1,000 Beavers & Cubs and over 200 Scouters. The event was organised and run mainly by a team of over 160 Venture & Rover Scouts. The camp had many activities including water and air activities with the Beavers & Cubs loving everything that was on offer. One of the main points of the programme was to take on the challenge of the Castle Saunderson Peace Award. In advance of the camp each section identified a Messengers of Peace Project to undertake in their own local community, completed it and logged it on www.scout.org While on the camp the Beavers & Cubs decorated a container reflecting the community projects they undertook. The third part of the award saw all the participants, scouters and staff take on specific peace training. The beavers and Cubs had to identify different conflicts around the world and spoke about how they can help to create a better world. Each of them coloured in peace doves with words they would associate with Peace.
