Mind Builders
Challenge
Mental health and well-being are vital, it's an invaluable skill for young people. With the Mind Builders challenge, young people can learn about mental health, build resilience, and develop effective coping strategies to navigate life's challenges.
Healthy minds, strong resilience, and taking action!
Mental health is not just about managing stress; it is about fostering a balanced and fulfilling life. It’s like the cornerstone of overall well-being, providing the strength and clarity we need to thrive. Through understanding mental health, young people learn to recognise and manage their emotions, build strong relationships, and adopt practices that support their overall happiness.
By nurturing their mental health knowledge, young people can improve our overall resilience, enhance daily interactions, and inspire others to prioritise mental well-being.
Why the Mind Builders challenge?
This challenge aims to raise mental health awareness, promote positive mental well-being, empower young advocates, increase community engagement around this topic, and measure impact and long-term change. When people have tools to manage challenges and stressful circumstances from a young age, they are more likely to lead happier lives and achieve fulfilment.
Breaking the stigma around mental health is an important step in this challenge and one that will be put into practice with the community projects of Scouts.
Rooted in positive psychology principles, this challenge enables participants to explore and cultivate key elements of well-being, propelling them toward a life of self-fulfillment and resilience.
As a final step in the challenge, a community service project needs to be implemented by the young people applying for the badge. It's the main purpose of the challenge, where all the knowledge and skills gained are put into action, creating a real and positive impact in community.
How can we support leaders to implement the challenge?
A Challenge Pack will soon be available on this page to support leaders in implementing the challenge with their Scouts, to help them earn their challenge badge. Stay tuned!
Learning Objectives: What young people will learn along the way
The learning objectives of each challenge not only aim to educate and inspire but also to empower individuals, guiding them step by step on a journey tailored to their age. This personal progression ensures that each young person's knowledge evolves from one activity or project to another and builds competencies for sustainable development.
