Service Camp - SWA Voluntary Service

It inspired us to initiate this Scouts of the World Award Project because of various reasons. First, is our passion for service. A strong desire to make a positive impact in the community or in a global context might drive someone to start such a project. Last, is scouting values. The principles of scouting—such as helping others, community service, and leadership—inspire us to undertake meaningful projects. The Scouts of the World Award is a way to channel these values into tangible actions.

Our project aimed to improve the teaching environment of our recipient school through voluntary service in giving cleaning and beautification of the school's surroundings. We began by SWA Discovery and consulting with the school principal of Datu Pananggom E. Andagkit Memorial Elementary School. We then developed a detailed plan with the guidance of our SWA Local Coordinator, including necessary documents and a schedule for school visits.

The participants learned the importance of leadership and responsibility. Many members took on roles they had not previously experienced, such as project management and practical skills. The project underscored the value of collaboration. Scouts had to work together to coordinate tasks, solve problems, and support each other, which strengthened team cohesion. We learned how to engage and motivate the community effectively.
