Students at Gurukul Primary School, Saweni, Lautoka, Fiji are empowered to carry out vegetable gardening at all class levels. Pictures show an upper class is in their garden area during gardening period. This was done whole of the school term by each class. Students learn the benefit and importance of growing own food through use of organic manure like compost/poultry manure. Children learn that healthy vegetables are better than genetic or processed foods sold at the supermarkets. This type of school projects teach students to do home gardening as well. It is a good leisure time activity and provides good exercise to mind and body.
