Community Service at Retreat Center
My motivation to participate in this project came from a strong belief in the Scout principle of “service to others before self” and a deep respect for our Bhutanese culture. I wanted to contribute in a meaningful way by creating a peaceful and spiritually uplifting environment at the retreat center through the installation of 108 prayer flags. Working alongside 16 other scouts from Motithang HSS and Yangchenphu HSS inspired me, showed how teamwork and unity can multiply the impact of service.
A total of 17 scouts from Motithang Higher Secondary School and Yangchenphu Higher Secondary School came together to carry out a community service project at a retreat center. We installed 108 prayer flags with teamwork, respect, and dedication, honoring the cultural and spiritual significance of the practice. Relevance to SDGs SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
Through this project, I learned the importance of teamwork, dedication, and respect for cultural traditions. Working with 16 fellow scouts from Motithang HSS and Yangchenphu HSS showed me how collective effort can create a bigger impact than individual work. I also realized that small acts, like installing prayer flags, can contribute to the well-being of the community by creating a peaceful and uplifting environment.
