“Clean it!” - Blatec, Vinica
We were motivated by the poor environmental condition around the Blatec dam and the need to protect a beautiful natural area that was heavily polluted. Our goal was to engage young people in taking responsibility for their environment and to inspire the community to act together for a cleaner and safer space.
We organized an educational introduction followed by a coordinated clean-up action. Youth teams used gloves, bags, and protective equipment to collect over 360 kg of mixed waste across 1.8 decares of land. The activity ended with a reflection session where participants shared what they learned and how they want to protect nature in the future.
We learned that young people are highly motivated when they see a clear environmental need. Teamwork, preparation, and good coordination make a big impact in a short time. The project showed that community involvement is essential and that cleaning polluted spaces can spark long-term environmental responsibility.
