Youth for a Greener Tomorrow: Learning & Leading
Witnessing how climate changes affect our daily lives, especially the health and well-being of people and the balance of nature, motivated me to take action. I felt that the youth, being the future leaders of society, must be made aware and empowered to act responsibly. This sense of urgency and responsibility inspired me to create a platform where young people could learn, engage, and lead meaningful actions for the protection of our planet.
On the first day of YLACC, students participated in four activities. Climate Zones clarified the difference between climate and weather, while Cross the Atmosphere demonstrated the greenhouse effect. In Circle of Power, they learnt the value of personal responsibility in combating climate change. Allies Together showed the harms of discrimination and the importance of unity.
The day concluded with a Decision Tree, reinforcing how choices shape future actions. On the first day of YLACC, students explored climate through four activities: Climate Zones (climate vs. weather), Cross the Atmosphere (greenhouse effect), Circle of Power (necessity of personal action), and Allies Together (impact of discrimination, value of unity). The day ended with a Decision Tree, where participants chose activities for the next session.
