Messengers of Peace Training at Kisii University
The project was motivated by the growing conflict and communication gap between young people and the older generation in Kenya. Increasing misunderstandings, mistrust, and limited opportunities for constructive dialogue were contributing to social tensions and weakening community cohesion.
The project demonstrated that sustainable peace begins with open communication, mutual respect, and active community participation. One of the key learnings was that young people are willing and capable of leading positive change when provided with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and opportunities. The training also highlighted the importance of intergenerational dialogue in reducing misconceptions, building trust, and strengthening relationships between youth and older community members.
Project Execution The project was successfully executed through a well-structured two-day workshop designed to encourage active learning, collaboration, and meaningful participation among all attendees. The workshop was organized using a combination of presentations, facilitated discussions, and interactive group activities to accommodate different learning styles and maximize engagement.
