Growing a Greener Barbados

The second phase of our Greener Barbados: Scouts for Sustainability project, funded by UNICEF, focused on Sustainable Gardening—and what a success it has been! 💚 Our Scouts prepared starter kits which contained soil mix and seedlings. They were placed in boxes for easy distribution. Perfect for small spaces or even recyclable containers for those without outdoor gardens. Before, farmer and Agriculture Science Teacher Sherrie-Ann Murray, hosted a number of engaging workshops for our Scouts, Leaders and parents, teaching them the do’s and don’ts of sustainable gardening and the importance of protecting our environment. After learning the basics, the Scouts rolled up their sleeves, planted their seedlings, and began their journey toward a greener future! Each kit even included a barcode for recipients to upload photos and track their plants’ progress online. 🌿 Next stop: bringing sustainable gardening to the wider public so everyone can join the movement toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Barbados. 🌎✨
