CELEBRATING WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DAY.
What inspired you to take up the project?
As scouts, we are guided by the promise to care for the environment and leave the world a little better than we found it. This inspired me to take action through a hands-on cleaning campaign, practicing the Scout method of 'learning by doing.' Our project mainly supports Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being and, Goal 15: Life on Land by creating a safer, cleaner, and healthier ecosystem for our locality.
What are the learnings you got from implementing this project and how would you make it better?
From this community service, I learned that cleaning campaign is one of the ways to celebrate the World Environmental Health Day. Not only that, I also learned we are contributing our small act of kindness towards our locality which brings peace and harmony among each other.
Where was your project implemented and how did you execute it?
Since it is World Environmental Health Day, we gathered our scout members in the football ground and planned to do a short cleaning campaign in our surrounding (outside the school campus). We started cleaning and collecting wastes from our school gate till we reach our destination.
After reaching at the destination, we gathered all the wastes and segregate it into non-degradable and degradable wastes. Then, we dumped it into the garbage truck according to the segregated wastes.
