The Kwezi Group is led by Nolitha and Zolile and is run in the Kwezi Junior Secondary School. The Group started in 2005 with 14 Cubs, both boys and girls. In 2009 a Scout Group was introduced and consisted of Scouts that came from the Cubs. The Group established a garden project at school aimed at developing the Scouts, teachers and the community. The Group feared that because their school is not fenced, the goats and sheep may enter the school and destroy the garden during weekends and holidays. To avoid this, the group used recycled tanks to fence off the garden and continued their mission to develop skills and to help cultivate the garden. The different vegetables grown are used to feed the learners and the community. The Group hopes to empower not only Scouts, but other learners from neighbouring schools and the community at large, to be able to work for themselves and make use of the resources around them.
