Creating a Food Garden in School

1st Mlilo Scout group recently supported Mlilo Primary School by building a food garden. The school is located in a rural area where most parents are unemployed and unable to pay for their children's school fees, so it grows vegetables to supplement its feeding scheme. The Scouts saw their school's need and decided to organise this project. They prepared the ground and planted the seedlings. They also showed the other school children the correct methods of planting and maintenance, so that they can build their own garden in the future. They also follow a roster where they take turns to water and care for the garden.
