In its Community Service Activities for 2016, Scouts of Colombo District choose to offer a helping hand to clean up Gothatuwa Maha Vidyalaya, which was facilitated as a relief camp for flood victims in heavy floods in the surrounding area, in May 2016. Therefore the normal schooling activates were disturbed for couple of weeks and was planning to recommence its usual activities on 30th May 2016. On 28th of May, a team comprising with 30 members of scouts accompanied by few leaders taken initiative in cleaning project in School Premises and surrounding area. We involved in cleaning up of ground, class rooms, table & chairs in order the students to back on school for their studies. After a tedious effort of 7 hours, the team was able make the environment clean and tidy and supportive for its children to recommence their studies. The Principle of the school also was participated and expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all participants. As a junior scout, I am product to contribute few hours of my day for such noble community work.
