Climate Cafe Batam
I was inspired by Climate Café® Batam, where open discussions on climate change connect local voices with global goals like the NDC. It showed me that young people can make a difference. After meeting friends from Batam and the U.S., I felt motivated to bring this spirit of conversation and action into Scouting.
I held a two-hour Climate Café®-style session in Batam with Scouts and the community. We started with a simple intro to climate change and Indonesia’s NDC, followed by small group discussions on local issues and possible solutions. The informal and youth-friendly setting made it easy for everyone to share and take part.
I learned that many young people are already aware of climate issues around them. What’s needed now is to help them turn that awareness into real action. Safe spaces like Climate Café® can inspire collaboration, confidence, and practical solutions rooted in local experiences.
