Boys Education Program
Boys Education Program is an annual awareness program created for the Samtse higher secondary school boys who are from 12 years to 20 years old. In collaboration with Health In-charge, Scout Tshering has created awareness on youth related issues like substance abuse, teenage pregnancy, illicit relationship, domestic violence and gender biased violence. Scout Tshering has also created awareness about the Child Rights and importance of youth participation in community. Boys were also informed about the secondary growth and physical development.
The westernization of culture and social media has influence young boys to abuse substances and other unhealthy practices. The number of students (especially boys) involving in substance abuse has increased in school and has become one of the most alarming concerns for the teachers as well as parents. The students has easy access to everything as the school is located near Indian border. The lack of awareness among the students are another main reason for the substance abuse.
Therefore, Scout Tshering saw the importance of creating awareness for the boys and did the presentations on the issues mentioned earlier.
