NSA Moldova’s first step in updating the National Youth Programme

“Scouting is an educational movement for and of young people based upon the Fundamentals of Scouting: its purpose, principles, and method. The cause of Scouting is Education for Life where the Youth Programme is the main medium through which young people are educated for life. Without the Youth Programme, there is no Scouting”, as stated in the World Scout Youth Programme Policy. In the context of the strategic objectives of the National Association Scout of Moldova (NSAM) and with support from the World Scout Bureau Eurasia Support Centre on 14 February 2016, in Chisinau, was organized a seminar on "Mapping the development of planning, writing and implementing the Youth Programme". The event was attended by 32 members of the NSAM (leaders, rovers, members of the National Council and Executive Bureau), representatives of the WSB Eurasia - Mr. Iurie Emilian (Regional Director), Ms Doina Postica (Director, Youth Programs and Adult Resources), member of the Eurasia Scout Region Committee - Ms Valentina Ursu (Head of the ERSC working group “Youth programs and educational methods"). A special guest was one of the founders of the Scout Movement in Moldova, and expert in the non-formal education area- Mr. Iosif Moldovanu. The seminar was facilitated by Mr. Nikolay Akatov (Director on Strategic planning and internal regulations of the WSB Eurasia). The main topics of the seminar were: • Introduction to the Youth Programme; • The direct link between a qualitative programme and effective training of scout leaders; • Map of writing, development and implementation of Youth Programme. The seminar was a first step for starting the challenging work with the update and further development of our current Youth Program. After the seminar, the working group for the update of the Youth Program of NSA Moldova will be formed. This seminar once again reminded us of the vision left by the founder Robert Baden-Powell, keeping the relevant role of leader in teaching young people to "leave this world better than they found it."
