#LifeLeaders: Mixing Empathy and Creativity
The Ideas Stage of the Impact Innovators Challenge enhances free creative thinking to generate ideas to solve the community problems. It lets Scouts explore possibilities without limitation, generating a list of potential solutions.
Sixteen Scouts from Lualu Rover Circle 9 and San Isidro National High School Outfit 189 actively engaged in a creative thinking activity called Mash-Up Ideas that stirs up their creativity to combine and innovate two or more objects. The Scouts had fun mashing up objects and creating improved or new uses to their products. After the activity, the Scouts brainstormed to build as many ideas as possible to address the issues they have previously identified: literacy and waste management.
“I realized that by really understanding the issue, it is much easier to think of possible solutions. Through the application of Design Thinking, the process of developing innovative ideas began to flow more naturally, driven by creativity and critical reflection.” -Irene
“We have to think creatively to solve the problem of literacy.” - Sean
Facing the challenge of having to come up with as many ideas as possible, the Scouts engaged in productive discussions and identified ideas that could help them in creating a solution.
