Climate Education in Action

In Kunkujang Keitaya, the Scouts for SDGs initiative is demonstrating the true impact of youth-led climate action. Recently, the local Scout troop convened an engaging climate education session that brought together 30 Scouts and 20 students for an inspiring learning experience; one that turned awareness into meaningful action. Through interactive discussions and real-life community examples, participants explored how climate change directly affects their lives and their environment. The session went beyond theory. It empowered the young people present to reflect, speak up, and take ownership of their role in protecting their surroundings. What made the event truly memorable was witnessing students and Scouts confidently commit to practical environmental actions: from campus clean-up efforts to tree-planting and peer education—guided by dedicated Scout leaders and volunteers. The Gambia Scout Association celebrates this inspiring milestone, as Scouts for SDGs continues to nurture a new generation of climate champions who are ready to take action for a sustainable future.
