ENVIRONMENT DAY 2016: Environment day celebrated by the THREE Scout Groups in GDh. Thinadhoo (GDH.AEC, ABOOBAKARU SCHOOL & THINADHOO SCHOOL) under the theme 'GREEN THINADHOO' on 04.06.2016. Girl Guides of these three schools also participated. The event commenced at 1600hrs end ended at 1800hrs. The event is in collaboration with the Thinadhoo Island Council and other agencies in the island. More than 800 Scouts, Girl Guides and general public actively participated. Awareness boards made by the Scouts & Girl Guides were shown during the Rally. In the same event more than 900 trees were planted in the island to make a GREEN THINADHOO. Speeches were given by the Scouts and other Senior Citizens to make public more aware of the fragile environment. Banners were displayed on different areas of the island to demonstrate the efforts and importance of our environment. In connection to the Environment Day 2016, the Ministry of Environment & Energy conducted various competitions open to all students across the country. TWO Cubs were selected among the TOP 10 in the Art Competition. Senior Patrol Leader of GDh. Thinadhoo School won the TOP THREE PRIZES (1st, 2nd & 3rd place) in the Photography Competition organised by the Ministry of Environment & Energy.
