Refugee Scout Supporting Rural Students in Malawi
I was inspired by the challenges faced by orphaned and low-income students in rural communities who lacked basic learning materials such as notebooks and pens. Many struggled to learn in difficult conditions, yet remained determined to pursue their education. Seeing their resilience motivated me to take action and support them with the resources they needed to continue learning with hope and confidence.
I organized a fundraising initiative to support orphaned and low-income students at Katsasti Primary School. With support from donors, we purchased notebooks, pens, and other school supplies and distributed them to 150 students, helping them access the materials needed for their education..
Through this project, I learned the importance of planning, teamwork, and community involvement in creating meaningful impact. I also learned that small actions like providing notebooks and pens can support and improve the education of orphaned and low-income students while building bridges between refugee and host communities through inclusion and cooperation.
