Woodville Primary School stories that shine

The Scouting-in-Schools team aimed to spark a love for reading at Woodville Primary. They wanted learners to improve literacy, comprehension, and confidence while making learning interactive and enjoyable. Scouts supported learners to explore stories, discover new books, and build practical skills.
Learners read and wrote stories, practiced dictionary use, explored library classifications, and learned parts of speech. Yeboneers guided learners individually and in small groups, helping them engage with reading while fostering creativity and comprehension.
Scouts learned that many learners struggle with reading but respond positively to guidance and structured activities. The project reinforced that consistent support, creative methods, and real-world tasks can improve literacy, confidence, and engagement.
