WE ACTUALLY DID IT! - Tanjung Datu Exploration
This activity are joined by 90 people including scouts, scout leaders, crew of the ship and our scouting friends from Indonesia. We arrived at Muara Tebas on 3 o'clock to board the ship that will take us to Tanjung Datu where we will have an exploration trip with scouts from Indonesia. We started the activity with a mini briefing from the captain of the ship on safety of the ship and how to use the life jacket. Then we start to set up our tents on the main deck of the ship. That night, we have a small Hari Gawai Raya celebration with foods that we brought from home. After cleaning our mess, we went to bed at 12 o'clock. The next day, we have a bit turbulence as the wind blew strongly and almost blew our tents away. The water also splashing onto the deck wetting all of us as we tried to save our tents. Finally we reach Tanjung Datu and meet up with scouts from Indonesia. We have a photo taking session and get to know each other before we start our exploration. I exchanged my scarf with one of the scouts as a memorial for this meeting and started a friendship. Each patrol were given one walkie talkie to communicate with each other and our scout leaders. The climb was very challenging and slippery but we helped each other and finished the climb together. When we reach the light house, we took a rest and look around the place while taking pictures before we started cleaning the place. We cut down grass and picked up rubbish around the compound before leaving the place and saying goodbye to our scout friends from Indonesia. Pulau Talang-Talang is our next destination after broading the ship again. At Pulau Talang-Talang, we dug out turtle eggs and play with baby turtles. We also play by the beach after digging turtle eggs and picked up rubbishes by the beach. Soon its time to leave again, we put on our life jacket and get on the boat that will take us to the ship for our trip back home to Kuching. We arrived safely at Muara Tebas on Sunday and unloaded our bags before taking a picture and thanking all of the crew of the ship. Then we say our goodbyes and go back home.
