Treking & Picnic Hiking

Treking & Picnic Hiking

Objectives To boost team spirit To work collaboratively as a team in the sixer To inbuilt the value of small contributions makes big difference which means we should take our own share of rice, vegetables etc. To make aware about the importance of environment To teach them life skills To provide community service To focus on the theme of 2016 that is SCOUTS AS MESSENGER OF PEACE. I organized the hiking on 3rd, December, 2016 with the main intention as a trekking cum picnic hiking & in order to provide our Nachhungs with a mind refreshing with the year 2016 ending. The hiking was for 3 hours 30 minutes where the starting point was from the school & the end point was nearby the river bank. With the objectives that I have mentioned above I could achieve most of the objectives as I expected. I instructed the Nachhungs to bring their own share of fooding items a cup of rice, one potato, 2 pieces of chili, one onion, one tomato, one spoon of salt, 100 ml of refined oil and one spoon of cheese individually. All of them brought the things as instructed. I very well know & I am aware that scouting is a voluntary programme I arranged the refreshments by paying from my own pocket such as one case of mineral water, one case of fruiti juice, one cartoon of mimi, 10 packets of waiwai, 4 packets of biscuits & other things like painting items. I am ever ready to do so as it’s just a small thing I could do because I always look for the benefit of others and the values & achievements that I have achieved. I am very much satisfied with what I did & what I have achieved. 29 Nachung Scouts, 3 teachers, 2 non-teaching staff total 35 members including myself actively took part in the hiking. The hiking started at 7:30 a.m. & ended at 11:30 a.m. I leading the advancement team engaged & made the hiking interesting & engaging as far as possible. The hiking consists of 30 different tasks. Along with the hiking I provided 3 patrols with the lungdars to be hosted at the Lhakhang on the midway. On the way all the members in the patrol did same like a cleaning campaign. The hiking tasks covered almost various tasks such as songs, Yells, signs & slogans, secret writings or messages decoding. On the way each patrol has to find their refreshments on 3 different spots and a surprise (biscuits). When all the patrols covered the hiking route we all gathered together, collected all the fooding items from every one, cooked food collaboratively & ate lunch together at the river bank.
