Trash to Treasure Tour: Educating Young Minds

Our primary motivation stems from recognizing the urgent need to address waste management at a grassroots level. Global Recycling Day served as the perfect catalyst to take action by engaging school children. We were driven by a desire to transform environmental awareness from theoretical textbook lessons into practical, creative action.By conducting a 'Best out of Waste' competition, our goal was to cultivate a sustainable mindset early in life.
Ahead of Global Recycling Day, we partnered with a local school to launch a ‘Best out of Waste’ competition. On the event day, our team delivered an interactive session on the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and gave live demonstrations on crafting practical items like pen stands and hanging planters. We then conducted the competition and wrapped up by awarding useful gifts to the winners to appreciate their creativity.
Through this project, we learned that children learn environmental concepts much faster through hands-on creative activities rather than theoretical textbook lessons. We realized how enthusiastic young students are about recycling when it is turned into a fun competition. Additionally, managing this event helped our team improve our public speaking, leadership, and workshop organization skills.
