Special Education Teacher workshop

I chose to initiate this project through our National Scout Organization because I saw a critical need to equip our frontline educators with actionable, practical skills rather than just theory. While our special education teachers have incredible dedication, they urgently needed specialized training in areas like behavior management and mental health support to effectively protect, guide, and empower vulnerable children with special needs.
During a collaborative three-day workshop with NISE and ELIC, four Malaysian experts trained 52 Scout leaders and special educators. The comprehensive training focused on seven core areas of special education, including behavior management, ADHD/Autism support, inclusive teaching methodologies, and individualized education plans (IEPs).
Throughout this project, my most significant takeaway was gaining a practical, in-depth understanding of ADHD and Autism, along with other mental health challenges students face. The workshop equipped me with actionable skills to better identify these specific needs, manage behaviors effectively, and apply inclusive strategies that ensure vulnerable students receive the targeted emotional and educational support they require.
