Senior Scouts 80 KM expedition
This 80 KM expedition is one of the toughest, physically and mentally demanding activity for the senior scouts. It is annual event and we, leaders put in a lot of thoughts, planning and we put a lot of emphasis on safety. This is where the scouts have to put into all their skills learnt in 4 years into 4 days! Teamwork & patrol system, leadership, planning, life (human/interpersonal) skills, outdoors skills, health (personal hygiene), service (peace, love & compassion). It is a a long & tiring hike for a 16 year old to endure, I called it a "super-normal" feat for them.
It is equally tiring for leaders, the planning take months, checking the routes, etc... but the most gratifying to see that when the boys and girls rise above-self where the compassion and the greatness of human spirit. The joy and the happiness when they end their tiring 4-days hike.
I thank the boys and girls for giving us a chance to share their happiness and achievement!
Let me borrow the famous line from Neil Armstrong (Apollo 11 mission, 1969), to these 16 years it is like -
"One small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind"
I SALUTE THESE YOUNG PEOPLE for daring to take the challenge, to strive to be better that before!
Salute to all dedicated leaders for making this possible!
