Scouts of Greece join the “Let’s do it Greece” campaign

On 26th of April, Scouts of Greece participated for the second time in the annual “World Cleanup” event of the “Let’s do it Greece” environmental campaign; part of the civic led mass movement “Let’s do it World”, which began in Estonia back in 2008. The aim of the movement is to clean up the whole world from waste in just one day and help keep our planet clean. Scouts across the country, embracing the cause for a clean planet, grabbed bags, wore gloves and, in collaboration with other volunteers, managed to clean several areas that were suffering from waste dumping. Scouts turned their law into action, and contributed, with their own hands, to this global effort. Many Scout Groups took the responsibility to organize local cleaning events and to invite students, athletes, parents and other volunteers to join them. All together took part in a series of tasks which included tree planting, waste cleaning, benches repairing, wall painting and plenty of others to improve their urban and natural environment. Furthermore, Scouts shared their passion for games and cultural activities, making the event even more amusing and meaningful for its participants. The result was astonishing, as more than 600 areas were cleaned up and obtained the care and look they deserve. Scouts of Greece are now looking forward to the next “World cleanup” day and are hopeful to attract even more people to this cause. “Let’s do it” campaigns are open to everyone that cares about the environment and making our planet a better place.
