Scouts Care for North Sumatra Community Service Action
The disaster in Central Tapanuli, Sibolga, and the surrounding areas has had a significant impact on the community. As part of the North Sumatra Scout Movement, the Regional Working Council mobilized 65 volunteers from eight branch offices through the North Sumatra Scouts Care Action project, in line with the spirit of devotion and mutual cooperation, as well as making a tangible contribution to SDGs 1, 3, 11, 13, and 17.
The project ran from November 30 to December 30, 2025, involving 65 volunteers from eight branch offices. The work was split into two: a command post at the North Sumatra Regional Office in Medan, acting as a coordination center, and field teams in Central Tapanuli, Sibolga, and the surrounding areas for logistics, medicine, and community service distribution, reaching approximately 1,200 beneficiaries.
This project taught us the importance of cross-branch coordination in responding to disasters quickly and in an organized manner. We learned that synergy between the command post and the field team is crucial for effective aid distribution and ensuring it reaches its intended target. This experience also strengthened the leadership and crisis management capacity of Scout members, while fostering deeper social empathy and the importance of collaboration with various parties for sustainable impact on affected communities.
