Sairam Founder Chairman Memorial Plantation Drive
This project was inspired by our Founder Chairman's vision of creating a greener, socially responsible society and by the spirit of International Human Duties Day. We wanted to encourage environmental stewardship while instilling a sense of civic responsibility among students and the community. Through tree plantation, we aim to honor his legacy and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future.
We identified a neglected pond in Poonthandalam Village and restored it with the support of the Village President and the local community. Volunteers cleaned the site, removed waste, and planted native tree saplings around the pond to protect the water body, improve biodiversity, and prevent soil erosion. The initiative promoted community participation, environmental conservation, and sustainable water resource management.
This project demonstrated that meaningful environmental conservation is possible through collective action and community participation. We learned the importance of engaging local stakeholders, planning sustainable restoration activities, and ensuring long-term maintenance of natural resources. The initiative strengthened teamwork, leadership, environmental responsibility, and collaboration while highlighting the value of preserving water bodies and increasing green cover for future generations.
