Scouts from Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana have began a project to protect river bodies around Kintampo.Kintampo is one of the big cities in the Brong Ahafo Region characterised by forest and rivers bodies forming a flaboyant tourist urge. The project is part of the youth program of the Ghana Scout Association.It also seeks to recruit new adults into scout in relation to the association's Adult In Scouting policies and to see to the continous growth of the association as well as its growth potentials The project which commenced on the 11th June 2017,led by Mr Shaibu Fuseni, one of the District Scout leaders in Kintampo was in collaboration with a local organisation in the district called Friends of The River Bodies. The main objectives of the project were: (i) Create awareness for the need to protect water (ii)Improve partnership with local organisations and the Municipal Assembly (iii)Sensitize communities against bad practises around river bodies (iv)Create a high level of social impact of scouting in the community. (v) Make Kintampo Water Fall clean and rich. The project started with a clean up exercise around the water bodies especially Baaminim that flows in the Kintampo Water Fall,a major tourist site in the Region. 46 scouts in total were in attendance,16 scouts,5 cub-scouts,20 Rovers and 5 council members from the Kintampo District scout council.The project was support by the Chiefs,The Municipal Chief Executive as well as the Coordinating Director of the Municipal Assembly.
