Last weekend, a scout camp was successfully organized by a group of Rovers namely 'Griffin Rover' at Pantai Sepat, Kuantan, Pahang. It was an introduction camp as a kickstart for 2018 to attract more freshmen to join the World of Scouting as well as exposed them to Rovering activities in our district. Also, we introduced them to air scout unit which mainly focused on aviation skills. The camp was participated by more than 200 hundred Scouts from Kuantan and Pekan which assisted and facilitated by Rovers. So, the interesting parts of the camp were: 1. The participants must cook their own meals! That's too cliche in camping right? But with the addition of speed of wind reached more than 40 km/h and raining were quite challenging. It was quite hard to set up the fire you know! We engaged a war with the wind! 2. Scout skills We managed to teach them the basic of knots, basic first aid, phonetic alphabets, etc. It included the practical session too! 3. Messenger of Peace It's a great platform to share what is MoP, most of them did not really know about MoP, but their expression for MoP was really awesome. We managed to teach the MoP dance too. It's really fun! 4. Traditional Games We realized that new generation is hardly known about the old and classic games nowadays. Therefore, we brought them to life so that we can share what we have been gone through before.. of course with joy! We conducted 'bowling kelapa, belon air, cabaran istana pasir, sepak takraw dan tarik tali'. Its were so fun and happening! 4. Grand Campfire The night that everyone was waiting for, the night that belongs to us! We were singing, dancing and showed our proud as Scouts. We lighten the night with huge campfire and fireworks, it's was so great! 5. Community Service- Beach Cleaning Of course, we love our environment, as Scouts, keeping our world clean is our duty. Thus, cleaning the beach is part of our hobby and our priority. We totally enjoyed our time doing such community service. Overall, it was a great camp and a good start. We received awesome feedback from the participants and their leaders, so far, we were greatly satisfied and thankful. We plan to do more, stay tuned! I
