New beginnings for the students: Shakespeare is back!

Shakespeare will be back in the curriculum in Bhutan starting 2017 in class 11. This is a great move towards one of the main factors for the development in Education. This great initiative was pioneered by Hon'ble Sherig Lyonpo. The relaunch of Shakespeare was held in the Banquet hall attended by many. HRH Ashi Sonam Dechen Wangchuck was the chief guest at the Launch. The introduction a prelude to the Merchant of Venice was dramatized by Thimphu students. The enactment was visually captivating and many interesting scenes were enacted through Shadow drama, Monologue and Dances. The highlight of the evening was Shylock's monologue by our Prime Minister. The enchantment of the Merchant of Venice was well received by all the audience. Many posted on social media and expressed their happiness. This play will be showcased to schools in other Dzongkhags to captivate their interest in Shakespeare.
