MNL Bay Dolomite Beach Clean-up Drive
I always see Manila bay at my television back in the days that it was full of trash, so when the administration of President Duterte started renovating the beach I knew that I can help the government.
When Manila bay announced that they are open to anyone who wants to join the coastal clean-up, my school didn't hesitate to go. Fortunately, I was 1 in the 26 delegates that my school sent. In Manila Bay, we pick-up litters, microplastics, and trash that is buried under the dolomite sand.
Having a coastal clean-up can protect the life of marine animals as well as humans as they can eat a fish that has not eaten any microplastics, it can also preserve the Manila bay as it is important especially as part of historical background of the Philippines, and this activity will also promote tourism in the beach.
While having a clean-up I noticed that even the beach looks clean, trashes are still present especially when you dig because trash are buried under the dolomite. I also learned about microplastics and how dangerous it was to marine life. In addition, I also discovered the measures that the government does to rehabilitate the beach like having a geomat.
