Merseyside Scouts Plastics Project

Merseyside Scouts Plastics Project

Packing small pieces of plastic into plastic bottles really can make a difference to the environment! Merseyside Scouts in the North West of England have been exploring recycling themes and engaging in creating ecobricks. Ecobricks become a valuable commodity, are logged online and validated. Building constructions include outdoor garden raised beds and walls to indoor stools and tables. This initiative began in the Philippines and has swept across the UK over the last two years. There are ecobrick clubs in schools, training courses and collection points as well as lots of community sharing. Making an ecobrick engages families in a plastic-less experience which means less plastic comes into the home as we avoid it and seek alternatives. https://www.ecobricks.org/

Merseyside Scouts aim to create enough ecobricks to build a shelter at their Tawd Vale Adventure Centre. https://merseysidescouts.com/ https://www.tawdvale.org.uk/
