Meendum Manjappai Campaign – Plastic-Free Tomorrow

The project was inspired by the growing problem of plastic pollution in our surroundings and its harmful impact on the environment and public health. Seeing excessive use of single-use plastics in daily life motivated us to revive the habit of using cloth bags and to create awareness among communities about sustainable, eco-friendly practices.

The project was executed through planned awareness drives involving students, faculty, and local communities. Activities included cloth bag distribution, plastic-free rallies, and plastic waste collection in the adopted village panchayats. Interactive sessions were conducted to educate people on the impacts of plastic pollution and encourage the adoption of sustainable alternatives in daily life.

This project taught us the importance of community participation in achieving environmental change. We learned that small actions, like choosing cloth bags, can create a big impact when adopted collectively. The initiative strengthened our teamwork, leadership, and communication skills while reinforcing the value of social responsibility and sustainable living.
