Malaysia Clean Up DayRovers KL: Rovers For Green
There weren't many activities that could bring all the Rover Scouts of Kuala Lumpur together. Consequently, a project specifically targeting the Rovers section was initiated. This project also offers service hours for Rovers seeking to pursue the Baden-Powell Award. During a physical meeting between the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) and the committee of this project, it became apparent that FRIM had a longstanding desire to establish connections with the scouting community.
Several online and physical meetings had been conducted to ensure the project's smooth execution. After everyone arrived, a ceremony was held to officially launch the project. Participants were divided into several patrols, each assigned to different locations and tasks, to clean the public facilities, rivers, ponds, tracks and surroundings. Upon completion, packed lunch was distributed to everyone as appreciation, and everyone had the chance to engage in recreational activities at the water.
Effective collaboration, whether online or physical meetings, proved crucial for planning and execution. Establishing community connections, particularly with organizations like FRIM, enhanced the project's impact. Simple gestures of appreciation, such as providing a packed lunch, proved impactful in recognizing and valuing participants' efforts. Lastly, the project highlighted the importance of balancing work and play, contributing to a well-rounded and positive community engagement experience.
