Learn about HIV/AIDS

A Peer Education Youth project, named Sonqoba was launched in Kabokweni at the Mashile Driving School. The project aims to bring the Sonqoba members together two times a week, to discuss and tackle issues around HIV/AIDS, stigma and teenage pregnancy. The Group‟s plan is to come up with solutions regarding the issues that affect their community. Amongst other activities, the group is also planning to implement drama, poetry, music and debate sessions. On the day of the launch, special guests from civil society including government officials were invited to motivate and encourage the youth. The members of the community were also invited to witness the launch and Scouts were present in uniform. The community is excited about the project. They expect this initiative to produce informed community members and see responsible youth that is educated about HIV/AIDS and teenage pregnancy.
