Interamerican Leadership Training #9
The Interamerican Leadership Training (ILT) embodies the mission, vision, and strategic priorities endorsed by WOSM by providing leadership training in a collaborative, activity based environment. The teaching of leadership, project planning, communication, and team dynamics provides participants with the skills they need to face the challenges of tomorrow.
Throughout the six days of the course, these topics (teamwork, mental health, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, development of critical thinking, among other topics that complement a leader) were developed using dynamic activities as a common thread, which allowed the participants not only to learn, but also to put into practice what they had learned.
One of the key lessons learned this year is the need to monitor everyone’s arrival time and adjust the schedule of the first day as needed to accommodate those who may have arrived late or traveled over night to arrive at the training site. The number one best practice for this project is to get started as early as possible. Starting the staff recruiting process early in the process would assure that the staff has the proper amount of time to prepare for the course.
