First Aid for Scouts in Tzaneen

Scouter, Angelina Malatji organised a first aid course, for 1st Fobeni Group in Tzaneen. 23 Scouts and 77 non-Scouts were trained in order to help others in an emergency situation. Activities included emergency scene survey, wounds and bleeding as well as CPR. The course was beneficiary to the village as most children live with grandparent or extended families. They needed first aid to help each other as they live far from the clinic. The community is very rural, there’s poor access to the road which makes it even far to access the clinic on time. Basic first aid has helped the people to do something before reaching the medical help. Elderly and extended families that live with people who have been trained on first aid will get help before they get referred for medical help. The group used the funds to purchase first aid kits, such as gloves, mouth to mouth CPR pieces and triangular bandages.
