Environmental Awareness Develop Green Skills
The inspiration for starting this project came from the growing environmental challenges we witness every day—rising pollution, loss of green cover, increasing waste, and the urgent need for sustainable practices in our communities. As a member of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, I strongly believe in our movement’s responsibility to protect nature and promote habits that support a cleaner and healthier environment.
The project engaged Scouts, Guides, Rovers, Rangers, and community members through structured activities focusing on waste management, plantation, water conservation, and sustainable living. The project began with a detailed planning process carried out at the State Headquarters. Identifying target groups and locations (schools, communities, SHQ campus). Forming an execution team of Unit Leaders, Rovers/Rangers, and volunteers.
Throughout this project, I gained several important lessons that strengthened my understanding of environmental work and community participation. People are willing to protect the environment, but they need hands-on training. Teaching green skills like composting, upcycling, and water conservation proved more effective than only conducting awareness sessions.
