Empowering New Scout Generations
I was inspired by the desire to empower young people in our university and community with essential life skills, leadership, and core Scouting values. Seeing the potential of youth to contribute positively to society, this project was initiated to provide comprehensive orientation and capacity building for 310 new Scouts, fostering active citizenship and supporting Sustainable Development Goals.
The project was executed through interactive orientation workshops and practical training sessions for the new Scouts. We organized team-building activities, delivered presentations on Scouting history, Promise, Law, and Safe from Harm policies, and engaged participants in patrol system practices. Throughout the sessions, participants actively collaborated, learned essential leadership and life skills, and successfully integrated into the Scouting movement.
Throughout this project, we learned that engaging young people through interactive and hands-on activities significantly increases their motivation and retention in Scouting. Effective coordination and clear communication among leaders are crucial for managing large-scale youth training. We also learned how to better adapt the Scouting program to meet the needs and expectations of new university students.
