Coastal care

Mangroves protect coastal areas from erosion, support biodiversity, and help combat climate change by absorbing carbon. Their vital role in sustaining marine life and communities motivated me to contribute to preserving and restoring these valuable ecosystems.

We planned the program, assessed the site, selected suitable mangrove species with an NGO, prepared materials, and trained volunteers. Seedlings were planted at proper intervals in marked rows during low tide. After planting, we monitored growth and engaged the community for ongoing care.

The mangrove plantation project taught me the value of teamwork, proper site selection, and species choice. Community involvement is vital for success. Consistent care and monitoring ensure healthy growth. Overall, it highlighted how restoring mangroves benefits the environment, protects coastlines, and supports biodiversity.
