Climate Hero Salatiga
I initiated this project because I believe Scouts have an important role in responding to the climate crisis. Scouting has always encouraged us to care for the environment, and in Salatiga—where environmental issues are becoming more visible—the need for action feels increasingly urgent. I wanted to connect Scouting values with meaningful climate action and encourage fellow Scouts to contribute to positive change.
I conducted a four-hour Climate Hero session in Salatiga for Boy Scouts aged 11–15. We explored the basics of climate change, discussed local environmental challenges, and encouraged participants to develop practical actions through schools, communities, and Scout activities. The session also strengthened their environmental awareness, teamwork, leadership, and confidence in sharing ideas.
Through this experience, I realized that many Scouts in Salatiga are already aware of the effects of climate change in their surroundings. However, they need support, teamwork, and motivation to turn that awareness into real solutions. Climate Hero sessions can encourage Scouts to transform their environmental concern into meaningful collective action from an early age.
